Husband and wife team Brian (54) and Pat (53) Peedell are in their 14th season of powerboat racing. They started out in Offshore Circuit Racing when their children got fed up of waterski-ing at weekends with them, using their phantom 18 ski boat 'White Knuckles'. A year later, eldest daughter Odette and her husband Mark were racing against them in the 2 litre class!
Daughter Nicole co-drove for Brian for a while when Pat tried her hand at driving a 16ft Phantom in the 1.3 litre class but towing two boats to every venue took its toll and they went back to racing together, this time in a Phantom 19. They took many seasons to eventually get a podium place (never a 1st).
They have raced in many World Championships in Italy and Norway and were overjoyed to get their first ever top National podium place in Guernsey in 2006. They have had the luck to get 1st place several times since.
It'll be Brian's 55th birthday and their 35th wedding anniversary a few days before the event so they're hoping to really celebrate by winning the Worlds!
