The organisers are hoping to have a new, unique tracking system available for the UIM World Offshore Championships.
Digimap and Links Communication first developed systems that were used by the Class 1 Victory Team in the race in Dundee in 1994 - some 14 years ago.

Always based on GPS, the systems have been used around the World and are now used for the tracking of vehicles, using both analog and digital radio systems, together with systems based on mobile phone technology.
The latest TRACTS system is currently being developed and will soon be tested. The software has been enhanced to handle some 35 race boats with frequent updates to provide the best tracking and safetly system in the World.
Using the latest GPRS technology from Cable & Wireless, the GPS position will be sent via the Internet to the Command and Control Centre, and displayed on various screens, providing both Safety control and the commentator with important information.
The development of the new system is being sponsored by Links Communication, Digimap and Sure Mobile (Cable & Wireless) http://www.surecw.com/ in Guernsey.
